What actually happened
OpenAI began a global ChatGPT rollout on 7 October 2026. Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise get GPT-6 Sol in the Chat tab. Free and Go start receiving GPT-6 Luna on 8 October. Both models are tuned for everyday conversation, and both ship with Intelligent UI.
Intelligent UI lets the model compose a reply from text, charts, graphics, tappable buttons, forms, and small interactive tools. A comparison can land as a side-by-side. A recipe or quote can expose inputs you change in place. A bill split or a short calculator can appear in the thread instead of a paragraph of steps. When plain text is the better answer, ChatGPT can still return plain text. OpenAI also says GPT-6 can start answering while it is still thinking. The published 44% figure is time-to-first-token on web-search questions versus GPT-5.6 Instant, not a claim that the full answer finishes 44% faster.
Work and Codex are unchanged. Enterprise availability depends on admin settings.
Why a small team cares
A solo consultant who writes proposals in ChatGPT used to paste a table into a doc, then rebuild the same comparison in a slide. The useful shift is that the first reply can already be the artifact: a chart, a form the client can tick, a checklist they can work through. Free and Go accounts now sit on a GPT-6 model, so a prospect who "tried it themselves" is no longer a generation behind the seat you bill for. The gap moves to how you use the surface, not whether you have access.
Hype vs useful
The Monday gain is a reply the client can act on, not a new model name. Frontier depth for the hardest jobs still sits with the larger GPT-6 models OpenAI shipped earlier. Sol and Luna are the everyday pair. Treat vendor demos of games and widgets as a ceiling, then judge the feature on one job you already do: a scope comparison, a quote calculator, or a discovery form. If the widget survives a client forward without a rewrite, keep it. If it does not, the text path is still there.
