Juspay announced Breeze Universal around 2 September: a pilot so brands can be discoverable across AI surfaces, including ChatGPT and Claude, plus first-party merchant or bank experiences. Shoppers can invoke @breeze inside ChatGPT and get recommendations across participating brands without leaving the chat. Merchants connect existing Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or custom catalogues; Juspay describes drop-in components, a headless kit, or APIs. The stack is built on Google’s Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP).
Practical Ecommerce listed it in its 8 September tools roundup with the same core claim: connect the store, expose the catalogue to AI shopping surfaces.
Treat this as a protocol and distribution pilot, not a finished EU compliance package. Juspay is an India-rooted payments and commerce firm. The newsroom copy emphasises discoverability and conversion. It does not walk through GDPR roles, EU AI Act disclosure for chatbot recommendations, or who is controller when an agent suggests a product and starts checkout. “Compliant with AI commerce standards from Day 1” in a launch post means UCP-shaped plumbing, not that your DPIA is done.
For Spanish Shopify / Woo merchants, the useful questions are operational:
- Catalogue sync. Which products, locales and currencies actually appear in the agent?
- Pricing and stock truth. Stale feeds in chat hurt more than a stale Google Shopping feed.
- Consent and personalisation. If recommendations use shopper context, what legal basis and retention apply?
- Controller vs processor. When ChatGPT shows
@breezeresults, who answers a data-subject request? - Checkout handoff. Does the agent collect data before your store’s consent banner ever loads?
Do not rip Magento for a chat plugin. Watch the UCP layer (same protocol family as Shopify’s storefront discovery work) and decide whether you want agent surfaces at all before peak season. Discoverability in the chat box is a real channel experiment. “Plug in and forget compliance” is the part to ignore.
What to do this week: if you pilot, limit SKUs and markets; document controller/processor in the contract; test price and currency for ES/EU; keep human review on high-risk categories.
